The Month where I read a LOT of New Favorites

June was an amazing reading month and I am not kidding when I tell you have a bunch of new favorites. I really didn’t have any reading lows; generally, I DNF what I’m not into when reading and would rather focus on the highs.

I finished ten (10) books this month for an average rating of 4.4 stars. Yes, you read that right. I had SIX (6) books that received a FULL five (5) stars! Lots of feelings going on here this month.

Here are all ten of the books I read this month, separated by rating, and my high level thoughts!

3 STARS

Parker by Jack Harbon; picked this up on a whim and it worked out the way I was anticipating. I’m excited to try more Jack Harbon in the future. The writing worked, but I didn’t feel all the feelings while reading.

3.25 STARS

Surly Romance by Nia Arthurs; the second in a series of billionaire dad romances. Yes, billionaire dads. This was an angsty enemies to lovers that gave me exactly what I wanted. It was the brain candy I needed, and will for sure be continuing in the series.

3.75 STARS

Flagrant by Alexandria House; following characters we briefly met in Let Me Hold You, Kendra and Polo. A dual perspective and timeline novel, this is a second chance romance where I was more invested in Kendra’s growth than the romance itself. I love Alexandria’s writing style and the characters she shares with us. I cannot wait to keep going in the series; and really hope Leland and Kim keep making some appearances.

Praise by Sara Cate; a dominant/submissive, age gap, ex-boyfriend’s dad romance. A set of tropes that tend to work for me, I had such a good time with this book. Truly cannot wait to read more in this series and from the author.

Ever After Always by Chloe Liese; second chance romance between a married couple and the third book in the Bergman Brothers series. I love a marriage in trouble romance where a couple rekindles the magic of their relationship. These always feel real and are a good reminder that relationships take work. I loved it!

With You Forever by Chloe Liese; the fourth book in the Bergman Brothers series. Marriage of convenience for an inheritance, chronic illness and autism representation, mutual pining and forced proximity. Another I loved!

The Wedding Pact by Katee Robert; the second book in The O’Malley’s series (a mafia series set in Boston). This one felt very Romeo & Juliet between our main couple being from two rival families. Carrigan is a character I aspire to be when I grow up. Add in the family dynamics and this is easily the best in the series so far.

Everything for You by Chloe Liese; the fifth in the Bergman Brothers series, and easily my favorite. Oliver and Gavin are the epitome of grumpy/sunshine, which is my favorite trope. Add in a dash of forced proximity, there’s only one bed and a workplace romance and this had the makings to be an all time favorite. Since I’m already in the middle of a re-read, this is one that I will be talking about for a long time.

Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert; the third in the Dark Olympus series. This is an MMF romance between Achilles, Helen and Patrocolus and centers a competition to become the new Ares. Filled with angst and a bit of suspense, this is one I stayed up way to late to finish one night. And I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

A Proposal They Can’t Refuse by Natalie Caña; a debut novel following childhood friends to lovers. This book gave me all of the feelings, made me cry multiple times and had me totally invested in the relationship between our main characters. Caña is an author that I will be reading from again in the future.

FINAL THOUGHTS

June was one of the best reading months I’ve had this year by the quality of what I was reading. I’m sad to be caught up on the Bergman Brothers series, but am glad Katee Robert has an extensive backlist.
