Gear up for an all-the-feels, steamy slow-burn in this enemies-to-lovers sports romance about fighting for love when life's taught you it's a losing game. Gavin We've been teammates for two years, but it feels like a lifetime that Oliver Bergman's been on my last nerve. A demanding captain and veteran player, I'm feared and friendless, while he's the beloved rising star, all sunshine smiles and upbeat team spirit. To make matters worse, he's obscenely attractive. In short: he's genetically designed to get under my skin. Avoiding Oliver has been my survival tactic on and off the field. But when Coach drops the bomb that we're now co-captains, avoiding him becomes impossible, and keeping the truth from him-let alone my distance-is harder than ever. Oliver Life was great until soccer legend Gavin Hayes joined the team and proved he's nothing like the guy I grew up idolizing. Instead, he's a giant-albeit gorgeous-grump who lives to rain on my parade. I've sworn off pranks since entering the public eye, so rather than settle our differences the Bergman way, I've had to settle for killing Gavin with kindness. There's just one problem: killing him with kindness is killing me. To make matters worse, Coach gives us an ultimatum: put an end to our enmity or say goodbye to being captains. I'm prepared to be miserable while we meet her demands and make nice, but the last thing I expect is to discover an explosive attraction we can't help but act on, and worse yet, to realize the man hiding beneath Gavin's gruff exterior is all I've ever wanted. Everything for You is a grumpy-sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, age gap sports romance about an upbeat rising soccer star with anxiety and his curmudgeonly veteran teammate who lives with chronic pain. Complete with nosy senior citizens, nosier siblings, and a meddling coach, this standalone slow burn is the fifth in a series of novels about a Swedish-American family of five brothers, two sisters, and their wild adventures as they each find happily ever after.

There are a lot of romance novels that give me all of the feels, but every once in a while there’s one that stands above the rest. This time it’s a grumpy/sunshine romance that melts my entire heart every time.

TROPES

Grumpy/sunshine, workplace, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, there’s only one bed, neighbors.

CONTENT WARNINGS

Sexual content, panic attacks/disorders, chronic illness/pain, homophobia (on page directed at a main character), injury/injury detail, abandonment, death of a parent.

WHAT WORKED FOR ME

Writing style. Chloe Liese has a specific way that she writes that can make me crack up in one sentence and then cry in the next. Her characters are real and flawed. I’ve yet to meet a character of hers that I don’t enjoy reading when it’s in their perspective.

Oliver and Gavin. This is a grumpy/sunshine pairing that worked in every single way. Gavin is the perfect type of grumpy character who is actually a complete cinnamon roll. I loved getting glimpses of his soft side over and over again throughout the book. Hard and rude in one moment, soft and helping Oliver through a panic attack in the next.

Combination of tropes. Liese was able to fit a of tropes into this one. Somehow, though, they all worked. It didn’t feel too forced or weird in that she was trying to do too much. They all worked together; especially the ones surrounding forced proximity.

Basically everything. Without going into too much additional spoilers, everything about this book worked for me.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK FOR ME

I honestly wanted more sexual content. Liese teases us a lot and we have small moments. But all of her books are some form of slow burn and I honestly wish we got more. This is really the only thing I can think of that didn’t work for me.

SPICE RATING

Three chili peppers. There’s on page descriptions, but it’s a small amount in comparison to the overall length and plot.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I am obsessed with this book. Gavin and Oliver are one of my favorite couples and I continue to revisit the audiobook over and over again. It’s truly become a comfort read for me. I expect to continue to reread this book for years to come, and my heart will for sure continue to melt each and every time.
