We’re almost halfway through the year and I’ve resurfaced to actually think about this blog. With the state of many many things, I wanted to take some time and think about what I want this blog to be and the type of content that I want to post. Above all, I want to ensure that I’m highlighting books that are written by and are about folks of marginalized identities. So with that, we’re undergoing a refresh on content (not that I have a lot of content to refresh). I’m looking forward to talking about books with all of you highlighting these incredible reads!
Let’s talk about how my 2025 reading has been going so far!
- As of the end of May, I’ve finished 57 books.
- I’ve DNFed 6 books – some because I wasn’t in the mood and others because I wasn’t enjoying myself.
- Romance remains my top genre, but I continue to dabble in fantasy.
- I’m still a digital book person through and through with nearly all my reads happening on my Kindle.
- My top 3 authors are:
- S.J. Tilly – plus sized ladies getting all the love.
- K.C. Mills – Black romances (contemporary, cowboy, and suspense so far) that I am quickly becoming obsessed with.
- Q.B. Tyler – the taboo romance queen herself.
- Average rating of 4.17 which is honestly high and I’m having a great time with reading this year.
What am I hoping for for the remainder of 2025?
- Continue leaning into and reading romances by racialized authors.
- Continue to use my local library more; I’ve been really leaning into Kindle Unlimited and supporting indie authors, but would like to continue to support locally.
- Being loud and intentional about the books I love and the books I’m highlighting.
- Be intentional about the books that have a permanent place in my print collection.
- Anddddd try and make progress on reading down my owned print collection.
How’s your reading been going? What are you trying to do more of in 2025?
